Formal lifesaving training starts at 13 years of age with completion of the the Surf Rescue Certificate (SRC).
Once completed, our new lifesavers are allocated to one of the Trigg Island Beach Patrols, and guided in further on the beach training by our more experienced lifesavers.
At the age of 15 our Youth can complete their Bronze Medallion, and once completed there is a large range of opportunities and training to further advance their lifesaving skills. Other awards that youth members can complete include:
- Inshore Rescue Boat (IRB) Crew Certificate age 15
- Advanced Resuscitation Certificate (ART)
- Senior First Aid Certificate
- Inshore Rescue Boat (IRB) Driver’s Award age 17
There are also opportunities for Youth members to attend State run camps focussing on developing leadership skills
