Trigg Island SLSC Members Shine Across Multiple Carnivals on the Same Weekend.

Club competitor dismounting board during race

From the 17th to 19th of January there was plenty of activity for our competing members across the nation, with the Shaw & Partners World Ocean Series – Manly Open, The Beach Stormers Round 4 in Manly, and The Freshwater Open all of which occurred in New South Wales, as well as the Fuel to Go & Play Youth/ Open Carnival at Fremantle here in Perth.

Over east, we had 8 athletes travel across to compete within the 3 carnivals hosted in New South Wales.
Trent Yates proved he was one of the nations top beach competitors, competing at the SLSNSW Beach Stormers Event, whilst Billy Hawkes stepped up and shone finishing in podium position across multiple disciplines of Surf Sports. Another incredible feat came from U17 competitor Milly Kok, who not only competed in events in her age group, but also pushed herself to compete in Open events as well, going up against some of the nations top female athletes.
At the end of the weekend, after the Freshwater Open, Trigg Island SLSC finished 8th overall within the carnival standings. This result is phenomenal, and shows that the athletes hard work, as well as coach Andrew Mosel’s diligent planning and attention to detail, is putting our club on the map as WA’s premier Surf Sports Club.
Congratulations to the following athletes who had competed within these carnivals (noted in brackets):

  • Milly Kok (Shaw & Partners World Ocean Series – Manly Open & Freshwater Open)
  • Grace Aitchison (Shaw & Partners World Ocean Series – Manly Open & Freshwater Open)
  • Macy Boisvert ((Shaw & Partners World Ocean Series – Manly Open & Freshwater Open)

  • Ellie Neervoort (Shaw & Partners World Ocean Series – Manly Open & Freshwater Open)
  • Josie Burton (Shaw & Partners World Ocean Series – Manly Open & Freshwater Open)

Coming back to West Coast we had Youth, Open, and Masters competitors flock to Fremantle SLSC for the Fuel to Go & Play WA Youth/ Open Carnival. Unfortunately a list of results cannot be published, however from all accounts Trigg Island SLSC had a dominant presence.
