Trigg Island SLSC hosts SunSmart Nipper Carnival – January 22nd 2023

If you were around Trigg Island, Sunday past, you would’ve been hard-pressed to get a car parking spot, as we welcomed 14 clubs and more than 700 Nipper competitors (plus their families) to our beach, for the 2023 SunSmart Nipper Carnival.
The event catered to Under 10’s through to Under 13’s and saw those entered compete in beach and ocean races.

It was a huge day! with so many on the beach, taking in the beautiful conditions, and cheering on their loved ones (and each other) in an action-packed schedule of events. Sorrento finished in 1st on the points standings with 182, followed by North Cottesloe with 125, and then Trigg Island finishing 3rd with 80 points.

A massive effort was needed by so many for this day to run as smoothly as it did, and it shouldn’t go amiss the hard work and time those who volunteered to set up (in 40-degree heat!), pack down, officiate, organise and feed, dedicated to this event.
To Boots, Andrew Mosel, Bronwyn Meldrum, Kevin Duguid, and all the other volunteers who were on for water safety, jet skis, and patrols, on the day, a massive thank you! It’s operations and efforts like yours that help make these events the best possible environment for our nippers!
