Trigg Art Club Mothers Day Exhibition

The Trigg Art Club once again held a very successful Art Exhibition over the Mother’s Day weekend, at Trigg Island SLSC.

Friday’s opening night was an opportunity for the club’s artists, and the members of Trigg Island SLSC to come together and enjoy the artwork, nibbles, and drinks. The Art Club’s Patron, Grahem Edwards is currently away, so City of Stirling Mayor, Mark Irwin, stepped in and picked the award-winning pieces.

The Trigg Art Club was founded 55 years ago in 1969 to support the Trigg Island SLSC. In the 55 years since their inception, they’ve seen the members and the organisation flourish, and grow in membership and activities. Mayor Irwin posed the question “Is there another Surf Club in Australia that has an art club as a resident supporter?

This year’s $10,000 donation presented to Surf Club President Cas Ryan is only possible through the voluntary work done by all Art Club committee members. Asking the community to donate prizes, and getting printing done by family, friends, other local businesses.

The Art Club’s President, Ann Dunstan, shared the following sentiment about the ongoing support of the Trigg Island SLSC:
“It is all worthwhile when we see how the work of the Surf Club members, from the youngest to the eldest makes such a difference to the public using the Trigg Beach. It saddens me that we don’t see more publicity about the outstanding work done by the talented youngsters of the Surf Club, their dedication and hard work is a credit to all of them. As President of Trigg Art Club, it is my pleasure and privilege to work supporting both clubs

We’d like to thank our resident supporters Trigg Art Club, its committee, and all their members for the ongoing support, time, and effort they generously give to our organisation, to ensure its growth and longevity.

Trigg Island Surf Life Saving Club acknowledges the traditional owners, the Whadjuk People of the Noongar Nation, of the beach on which we work and play. We pay our respect to their elders past and present and are grateful for their continuing connection to the land, sea and sky.
