In the Youth age groups the competition arena expands with the introduction of long boards, surf skis, surf boat rowing, and IRB racing (inshore rescue boats, winter comp only). Lifesaving events such as the traditional Rescue and Resuscitation competition, plus first aid and champion patrol competitions also become available to our Youth members.
During this transition period, our youth members are exposed to all the competition areas, however will tend to specialise in one or more disciplines or simply become a patrolling member and use the competition training to maintain a fit and healthy lifestyle.
The competition season typically runs from the beginning of October to early April each year, cumulating in the Australian Surf Lifesaving Championships in Queensland. The season has several interclub competitions at different beaches on both Saturday and Sundays, with the State Championships held in March.
Trigg Island provides structured training in all the surf lifesaving disciplines via well experienced club members with Australian Surf Coaching Accreditation.
