         Boards

There are two types of boards in Surf Lifesaving - Rescue Boards and Competition Boards.

Rescue Boards are a vital piece of equipment. When on patrol at least one must be on the beach at all times. Rescue Boards are easily distinguished as they are predominantly yellow with "Surf Rescue" written on them in large red letters. It is vital that these boards are kept in good condition. Yellow Rescue Boards are strictly for patrol use!

Competition boards are split into three categories depending on their use. These are General Purpose, Training, and Competition.

General Purpose "G"

These boards are identified with "G" on the board. These boards may be used by all financial members upon advising the Board Captain, or an appropriate officer in this area.

Training "T"

These boards are specifically marked or stored in a specific location within the board racks. "T" boards are allocated to members for competition training and are only to be used in supervised training sessions. If you wish to use one of these boards you must contact the Board Captain or the Director of Competition.

Similarly, if you wish to be allocated a board you must seek the permission of the Board Captain or the Director of Competition.

Competition "C"

These boards are marked "C". They are allocated to specific competitors for competition only. The majority of these boards are privately owned. Competition boards are strictly for that purpose and are not to be used by anyone other than the person to whom the board is allocated except if permission is granted by the Board Captain or the Director of Competition.

These boards are expensive to replace and when damaged lose their value quickly.

All unmarked boards are privately owned and must not be used without the owner's permission.
