Trigg Island Surf Life Saving Club was formed in 1953 and from small beginnings of 8 foundation members and 1 patrol it has grown to a membership base of nearly 100 with 400 Juniors and over 500 Senior members.
The Club is run by a Board consisting of 5 Directors, Club Captain and President. A Vice President is nominated by the Board from the existing Directors. These Directors are responsible of Surf Sports, Lifesaving & Education, Junior Activities, Promotions & Marketing and Finance & Administration.
The Club employs a part time administrator who is in attendance at the club Monday through to Friday from 9am to 2pm, and can assist with most of your enquiries.
Membership starts with our U/8’s through to U/14’s in the Junior division with U/15’s, 17’s, 19’s and Open members in the Senior division. Age grouping is set by the age you are as at the 30th September of the current year.
Whilst we are always looking for new members, we do have space and water safety considerations which sometimes preclude the Club from being able to accept all memberships in our Junior division. In particular the U/9, 10 and 11 age groups. For this reason we 2 separate enrolment dates for the Junior area.
The first is Sunday 24th August 2008 for re registering our Existing members only. The second date will be 21st September for all New Member registrations. Both are held in the Club Hall from 9am through to 12 noon.
Club fees are reasonable and we have a $20 raffle levy per family for tickets in the Club raffle which is drawn mid December. The tickets are paid for up front, and may then be sold by the member if they wish. To be eligible for prizes all tickets need to be returned 1 week prior to the draw date. Details of the Club fees are available under the Finance & Administration tab.
The Club has a proud history in Lifesaving, being responsible for close to half the rescues performed in Western Australia whilst patrolling the beaches from October through to March each season. We are always on the lookout for new members who would like to be trained to be part of this great volunteer organisation.
The Club is also one of the strongest competitive clubs in Western Australia having dominated both the Senior and Junior divisions for the last decade. This is due primarily to high caliber and dedication of our volunteer coaches in all areas of competition arenas. Details of our coaches can be found under the Surf Sports tab.
Every Sunday throughout the season the Club holds a Club Swim for Senior members, who must complete 50% of all these swims to be eligible to compete in carnivals. Sunday morning activities begin at 9.15am for Juniors and 9.30am for Seniors.
Our main form of communication to members if through our electronic newsletter called The Islander. To register to receive this newsletter simply complete the “register me” section under the Newsletter tab. It is important for all members to receive this newsletter as it is the main form of communication throughout the season.
The Club has a busy social calendar run with the assistance of the Functions Coordinator, and we always have the need for volunteers to help run these occasions. Functions are listed in the Club Calendar and if you can assist with any of these in any way please contact the Functions Coordinator for more information.
The Club has a great group of Sponsors that have supported the Club for a number of years, and we would like you to support these sponsors where ever you can. Furthermore if you can help out as sponsor, even in a small way it would be much appreciated and will generally be a tax deduction. If you can help please contact our Promotions & Marketing Director.
