It is with sadness that I report the passing of past president and life member John Julian.
John Julian passed away on the 19th Aug after a long battle with illness. John joined Trigg Island one year after its inception in 1954 from the Cottesloe club and bought Trigg immediate success, coaching the successful N.S.W. Trophy R&R Team in 1954.
John was a born leader, also taking on roles as Patrol Captain and Chief Instructor and was involved in the new premises the club built in 1963.
John was club President 1958-61, Vice President 1956, 1958, 1962-63, Chief Instructor 1964-65 and was awarded Life Membership in 1966.
A quote in 'Rebels with a cause' typifies the times and the person where John remarked "There were a lot of colourful characters I met at Trigg Island. This club could not be compared to any other in Australia. We had to be strong, we had to be good because the conditions would not allow anything else."
We remember John as competitor, leader and great club member and our thoughts and wishes are with the family and friends at this time.
